As the owner of Osborn Smith Consultants, Julian's role varies depending on project requirements. Sometimes he acts as a Project Manager, while on other projects he takes on the role of Site Manager.
His responsibilities include:

- Resolving drawing-related issues with architects and site teams
- Attending client meetings
- Coordinating with stakeholders and visitors

Julian explained that he wanted a better way to update his handwritten site diary while working away from the office.
“I was looking for a method of updating a handwritten site diary in such a way that it could be done on the fly on site while being away from the office.”

- Brighton University refurbishment works
- 12 Bishops Road : a new extension incorporating Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements for a disabled resident
These projects required detailed reporting, strong communication, and accurate site documentation throughout the construction process.
